Kim Dong-hoon, 73kg class, disappointing 4th place No medal in Korean judo

Kim Dong-hoon (25, Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation), a national disabled judo team member, unfortunately lost in the bronze medal match for judo (sports class J2) at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

Kim Dong-hoon suffered a half-decision defeat to Ukhkun Kuranbayev of Uzbekistan in the bronze medal match in the men's 73 kg class held at the Champ de Mars in Paris, France on the 7th (Korean time).

He failed to turn the game around after giving up a half-back 39 seconds into the game.

Kim Dong-hoon, who prepared for the college entrance exam with judo in his second year of high school, quickly rose to become a top-level athlete after taking up disabled judo

He took first place in the 2021 National Team Selection, third place in the 2022 World Judo Grand Prix, and third place in the 2023 Asian Championships.

He entered this competition with the goal of winning a gold medal, but unfortunately he had to wait for the next stage.

Paralympic judo is largely divided into visual and hearing impairments.

Korea sent Lee Min-jae (33, Pyeongtaek City Hall) and Kim Dong-hoon to compete in the J2 (low vision) visual impairment category.

Lee Min-jae lost in the bronze medal match in the 60 kg class on the 6th.

The Korean national team for the disabled in judo won medals in three consecutive competitions: the 2012 London Paralympics (1 gold), the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympics (1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze), and the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics (2 bronze), but this time they will return empty-handed.
