When Was Sprunki Released?
If you’ve spent any time in the rhythm game community, chances are you’ve heard about sprunki — the mysterious, creative, and slightly chaotic fan-made mod inspired by Incredibox. But when exactly did Sprunki make its debut, and how did it become such a hit among fans so quickly?
Sprunki was first released on August 26, 2024, as a small experimental project made by a creator known as NyankoBfLol. It started out on the Scratch platform, where players could experiment with building music using the same drag-and-drop mechanics as Incredibox, but with a darker, more surreal twist. Despite being a fan project, Sprunki immediately caught the attention of players for its expressive animation style and unpredictable sounds.
However, not long after its release, the mod faced some controversy for its eerie visuals and was temporarily taken down. That only added to the mystery. A few weeks later, Sprunki was uploaded again — stronger than ever — and began spreading through the fan community. Players loved how it blended charm, weirdness, and creativity into something totally different from any other Incredibox mod.
By September 2024, Sprunki had been adapted for other platforms, including Cocrea and Incredimake, allowing fans to keep the experience alive even after the original Scratch version disappeared. Throughout the following months, new updates and versions appeared, each one pushing the game’s visuals and sound design in more experimental directions.
Although the final planned update in November 2024 never fully released, Sprunki had already left its mark. It inspired dozens of spin-offs, horror remixes, and tribute mods that still appear today. What began as a small fan experiment turned into an entire subculture of rhythm-based creativity.
In short, Sprunki’s release wasn’t just a date — it was the start of something new. From its humble launch in August 2024 to its countless community-made versions, Sprunki continues to prove that music, art, and imagination can thrive even in the strangest corners of the internet.
