Who needs to complete the APEGS Competency Assessment?

The APEGS Competency Assessment must be completed by individuals applying for professional licensure with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan through the competency-based assessment pathway. This includes internationally educated engineers, Engineers-in-Training (EITs), and applicants seeking the Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation who do not follow the traditional academic review route. Applicants with diverse educational backgrounds or experience gained outside Canada are commonly required to complete the APEGS Competency Assessment. It allows APEGS to evaluate an applicant’s technical skills, professional judgment, communication abilities, ethics, and readiness to practice engineering independently and responsibly in Saskatchewan.
