What is meant by a cricket match being suspended?

A cricket match being called off implies that the game was temporarily halted and could not be resumed at that time due to circumstances. It normally occurs due to rain, low light or unsafe surface conditions or due to sudden irregularities such as technical hitches. When it is suspended it does not imply that the match is cancelled altogether. The umpires stop the game and wait that the situation would get better. The meaning of the suspended match in cricket is sought by many fans because of the desire to know whether the match will continue or not. On play is resumed at the same point as it was halted in case of weather clearance or conditions becoming favorable. Nevertheless, a prolonged time of delays can cause the match to be called off or a no result to be scored according to the regulations of the tournament. A temporary suspension is not the end result of the match.
